Matal Crete the ideal place to have a Romantic Wedding On Crete.

Wheather you are a history buff or just a couple wanting a more relaxed atmosphere to be married in at Matala you are sure to find both. Set against the history of St.Paul's first steps on Crete at Agios Pavlos or tthe roman caves cut into the famous Matala beach cliff face Matala has a lot to tell the casual holiday maker. It acted as a port for the Minoan palace at Goytn and became the principel base for the Romans while they were on Crete. After which, Matala was used during the Ottomon period as one of several southern bases to run guns into the island. Today, it represents the 1960s 'free spirit'. The laid back atmosphere is sure to make even the most difficult to please member of your family forget their troubles and relax. It is an hour from Heraklion international airport and has avoided many of the modern conversions which have been taking lace in the northern part of the island. In fact one toursit remarked that Matala is still twenty years behind the rest of the island which gives it a unique atmosphere which the local council has done its best not to see spoilt by huge hotels and complexes. Its our favourite part of the island and that's why we suggest it to you as a backdrop not just for your wedding but also for your honeymoon with us here at 'Romantic Weddings On Crete'.
